Our story began so long ago… but none of that is important now, is it? No one really cares about what happened in the far, far past. All that matters is the now and the here and the present and the immediate. That’s all you really care about, isn’t it, dear reader? You don’t want to be bored with the distant past. You are here to know about what has happened with all your favorite faces and people. Well, for that, we must turn to the land of Storybrooke…

The Evil Queen and Snow White had been locked in a struggle with each other for many years, and their turmoil swept up their home in the Enchanted Forest, and all its inhabitants, into their great conflict. This struggle culminated in a Dark Curse that changed their world, and brought them all to a created town in Maine called Storybrooke. There, all the citizens of the Forest were Cursed to forget their true lives, and live ones of mimicry and banality among the Land Without Magic. 28 years passed, and nothing changed, the citizens all locked in their daily cycles, never ending, until, one day, True Love’s Kiss broke the Curse’s hold, and freed in the inhabitants of Storybrooke.

But all was not well. Outsiders came and invaded the town, and kidnapped their people, and a group of heroes dispatched after the villain who threatened their world. This villain was named Peter Pan, and when the heroes journeyed to his world in Neverland, he proved to be their most deadly and deceptive enemy yet. Alliances were made between the most unlikely of people, and they traveled to Neverland to save that which was taken, and take back what was lost. But they were not our story’s only players…

They call her the Queen of Air and Darkness… and Once Upon a Time, she was benevolent, kind, maternal, and just… But she was also such a sad Queen, she that ruled the Unseelie Sithen. She was there in Neverland that day when the Pan was defeated, but she loved the Ruler of the Lost Boys with all her heart. Previously, he had denied her Love, and with that denial had come the beginning of her long Fade. And still, though she was dying, she Loved Pan without end, and instead of Peter falling with the rest of his Island, she sacrificed her life force to keep him from the grave.

Perhaps she should have died… But the Shadow, the creature that was the true puppet master of Neverland, Peter Pan, and all their treachery, would not accept defeat. Seeing an opportunity, It slide inside the weakened monarch, saving her life, but at the cost of her soul. Already on the trip back to Storybrooke, the corruption had seized her, and her essence (for the Fae are always at the whim of the world that believes in them) was formed her anew.

They call her the Queen of Nightmares now. At the bidding of herself and the Shadow, Morgan le Faye sacrificed something most dear to her, and with that ransom she tore down the walls that were Storybrooke, and brought the realm of the Enchanted Forest back, with all its inhabitants, and anyone else unfortunate enough to be stuck within the city limits. But this was not the Enchanted Forest that the people had come to miss. Instead, in her loss and anger, she raised it back in her own malevolent vision, a world where the long shadows rule, and the sun cannot pierce the darkness.

From her high, dark thrones she rules, our heroes scattered to the wind. Their only hope is to meet each other once more, and come together to save the Enchanted Forest and all the people that dwell within. Will True Love be enough to save the day again? Or will the world forever tumble into that Forever Night?

This RPG takes place in an Alternate Universe, pre-Season Three.

NOTE: This plot has large Unseelie Fae and Lovecraftian elements to it. We recommend reading authors like H.P. Lovecraft, Neil Gaiman, Holly Black,Charles de Lint, Clive Barker, Edgar Allen Poe, Mark Z. Danielewski, and Guillermo del Toro.
